Update the kernel package appropriately to ensure a bootable system

Check the current version of the kernel :

Check available kernels :

# yum list kernel

How to upgrade the kernel :

# yum install kernel

Note: On grub, the new kernel will be in the order 0

To see (or change) how many kernels the system will store :

# cat /etc/yum.conf | grep install

To tell grub to start with a specific kernel :

# grub2-set-default n

where n = number of kernel order
